The Fabelmans
Directed by Steven Spielberg, the film stars Gabriel LaBelle as the 16-year-old aspiring filmmaker Sammy, Michelle Williams as his artistic mother, Paul Dano as his successful, scientific father, along with his best friend; Seth Rogen as Bennie Loewy, the honorary “uncle” to the Fabelman children.
The cast includes Julia Butters as Sammy’s sister Reggie, Robin Bartlett as Sammy’s maternal grandmother Tina Schildkraut, and Keeley Karsten as Sammy’s sister Natalie. There's also a cameo from a famous director.
Spielberg has John Williams providing the music, and Janusz Kaminski as the cinematographer. The film has all the usual Spielberg schmaltz . . . something he is very good at. A thoroughly enjoyable journey through his early life.
The film is released in the UK on the 27th January . . . and is well worth a look. I predict this to be a big player in the upcoming awards season.
