The Worst Person in the World

Julie tearfully tells her boyfriend that she sees time running out for one of the most beautiful relationships of her life. But this journey is one coloured by euphoria and adrenaline as much as regret and guilt. Renate Reinsve (Julie) – effectively making her feature debut here, is so warm with a smile that sparkles with sunshine, and eyes so curious and hungry that they come alive with every question, every hesitation.

It’s a brilliant performance, with a script that’s so wonderful, you never want it to end. wise and organic that it can often feel like you’ve been listening in on those intimate conversations. This is so accessible and watchable than it should be.

Julie wonders about her career and doubts her feelings over & over again. Magic fills the air in another showstopping scene – where the whole city stops as Julie sprints from one man to another for just one tender, urgent kiss. These unexpected pleasures fill the film with spontaneous joy. Highly recommended.

The film is available on MUBI, but also on other streaming platforms.
